Musicians

All performers are continually developing and refining their art. Whether we are endeavoring toward increased excellence, rehabilitating an injury, trying to work through nervousness and become more present in their performing, or ALL of these, musicians live in the process of making our work richer for our audience and ourselves.

The Alexander Technique teaches musicians to work with physical principles in a practical, constructive way to quiet their own nervous systems in the present moment, and free themselves up to perform optimally. The less bound up we are in superfluous tension, the more expressive and virtuosic we can be. Many musicians are aware that they have excess tension. The Alexander work focuses on HOW to undo that tension from a practical standpoint in any situation.

Musicians are always in the process of observing themselves and looking for ways to improve and innovate. Even the smallest amount of undue effort can effect tone, breath capacity and musicality. Learn how to tune your whole self for performance.
