PRACTICA is a voice, movement, and performance lab dedicated to deepening your coordination, skill, artistry, creativity, and self-trust.
I believe that music, movement, and life itself are dance – on a subatomic, neurobiological, and universal level.
The word PRACTICA originates in Ancient Greek, meaning “to do” or “to act,” and in this context also refers to práctica in Argentine tango – an informal, relaxed practice session designed to improve technique and experiment with new movements in a supportive environment.
Shiva Nataraja, one of the principal deities in Hinduism, is regarded as the divine cosmic dancer. His functions include creation, destruction, and preservation. Shiva’s dance is the universe.
In PRACTICA, we move, act, sing, and play together in the cosmic dance.
The work is rigorous, playful, and transformational.
And you are invited.

I will bring principles and concepts to challenge and inspire you in each weekly meeting. These ideas will move you into new ways to perceive, build skills, and help you be at the growing edge of your work.
Specific Areas of Focus Will Include:
Coordination & Ease in All Movement
Breathing
Resonance
Agility, Articulation, Ornamentation
Navigating Registers: Head, Chest, Passaggi
Emotion in Performing
Pre-Performance Energy / Heightened States
Consistency in Quality
We will work with these in synthesized practices, for example:
A warm-up that integrates coordination, breathing, resonance, and pre-performance energy.
The physical practices in PRACTICA facilitate the support, dynamic stability, uprighting, joint centration, synergy, coordination, and timing that are present and required for healthy development, as well as high-level artistry and athleticism.
We will work with verifiable, accurate, and relevant anatomy and functioning in the context of whole-self performance. In doing so, we may interface with and revise outdated, incorrect, or incomplete ideas about movement, breathing, singing, and performing.
In the teaching and coaching process, we will work with text, character, rehearsal processes, and performance readiness- thriving in heightened performance states.
In PRACTICA, we will do the physical, technical, and artistic practices together in real time. You get everything in the session itself, so the demands of life do not prevent you from getting the benefits. You will also have access to recordings of each session for review.
You are invited to be coached on anything you are currently doing or working on from a physical/artistic/vocal/ coordination/biopsychosocial standpoint. You will be coached at the level of your skill and experience- if you are new to this work, you will be given the information you need to create the foundation you need. If you are fluent in this work, you will be coached accordingly and lovingly challenged as desired.
The magic of an integrated, trans-disciplinary group is that you get the benefits of others’ work as well as your own.
PRACTICA is a 3-month course of study to provide time for deep learning and application.
Fall term takes place from September to November.
We meet weekly for the first 3 weeks of each month.
Day and time will be determined by the availability of the participants.
Participants will have access to a dedicated, private WhatsApp Group for discussion and additional support between coaching sessions, providing a unique level of access and a close-knit community of artists.
All coaching sessions are recorded for you to review.

“Practica was an extraordinary experience. Kate is an exceptional coach whose holistic approach is unlike anything I’ve encountered. Her deep expertise in the Alexander Technique informs everything she does, allowing her to see connections between the body, mind, and voice that most people miss. Her approach to singing will absolutely blow your mind—it challenges assumptions you didn’t even know you had and opens up entirely new possibilities for freedom, expression, and artistry.
What makes Kate truly remarkable is not only her depth of knowledge but also the way she teaches. She has an uncanny ability to distill profound ideas into simple, unforgettable insights. So many of the things she says off the cuff are instantly quote-worthy—you find yourself writing them down because they’re that insightful. Every session left me thinking differently, not just about singing, but about learning, performing, and being human.
If you’re looking for a coach who will help you grow as both an artist and a person, I can’t recommend Kate highly enough.”

“I feel so fortunate to have discovered Kate as a trusted mentor and guide. From my first session with Kate, I knew I was in exceptional hands. Kate is more than a teacher of technique (though she has plenty of technical mastery to offer); I found myself elevated and supported not just as a singer, but as an artist and a human. I came to Practica to work on singing with less tension and more freedom, but I also wanted to address my recurrent stage fright and self-consciousness that had kept me from wanting to perform. Kate’s program and mentorship has helped me to make greater strides – not only to sing with greater ease – but to develop clear and tangible processes to work with performance nerves and anxiety.
Kate is a magician at providing the exact feedback you need – in deceptively simple terms – that changes everything. Working in the group in Practica was a huge blessing, with each of us learning from each other and creating a profound community of support. Kate’s availability through this process was stunning; I felt supported every step of the way.
I cannot recommend Kate’s work enough. If you are on the fence, I encourage you to jump and jump now!”
